I filed my 2008 tax return using Turbo Tax Deluxe 2009. For the low, low price of $19.95 for the Federal return (discounted as a returning customer), another $34.95 for the state return + $34.95 for audit defense (peace of mind), I filed my taxes in under an hour. But it wasn’t the ease of use in filing the taxes, which I have come to expect from this great online tool that got me writing here. It was the brilliant marketing campaign they have newly set up this year, which successfully interested me in their 3 FREE OFFERINGS that come with my membership: Quicken Online, Quicken Picks, and IRA guidance.
Turbo Tax set up the user to fall for this offers with brilliant, short embedded videos showing you the benefit of the offers. The word FREE also helps, but what I liked best was that I can use my Turbo Tax ID and PW to access all of these tools. More companies should take a page from this book, (my own included), that when you want to offer a suite of tools, single log in and password is the key. Since I do not have to create new profiles to use any of these offers, I will most likely check them out when I have time.
